Illawarra Suburbs Lawn Tennis Association (I.S.L.T.A.) was formed in 1911 and now covers the entire St George and Sutherland
Shire areas.
The name 'Illawarra' remains as it is a part of tennis history in the Sydney metropolitan area, even though the name is these days associated with the near south coast of the state.
I.S.L.T.A. is affiliated with the New South Wales Hardcourt Tennis Association and Tennis New South Wales, through which we are affiliated with Tennis Australia. In 2000, Tennis NSW presented I.S.L.T.A. with the 'Junior Development Policy of the Year' award.
Our headquarters, at 71 Chapel Street ROCKDALE, has 18 floodlit synthetic grass courts, a fully licensed club and a pro-shop for all your tennis needs. Our club was named the 2000 'Metropolitan Tennis Club of the Year'.

Our junior tennis headquarters, in Hawthorne Street RAMSGATE, has six synthetic grass courts. Bookings for use of these courts can be made on 9529 3505.
Competition tennis is organised by the Illawarra Tennis Association and is played on courts in the whole area, some at tennis centres and some on courts in private backyards. We have over 2,800 registered competition players, which guarantees suitable competition for every standard.
